If you're looking for an onsen stay where kids stay entertained and parents actually get to soak — Evergreen Phoenix is your answer. It's the only 200-room resort in Jiaoxi with a real outdoor swimming pool — luxury 5-stars in the area all focus on onsen pools only. The pool is split into two zones: an adult zone (1.4 m deep) and a kids' zone (60 cm deep, 30-32°C), safe for children from age 3 with a lifeguard on duty all day.
About the onsen baths: every room has a private in-room bath where you control the temperature (perfect for tiny kids). The gender-separated communal pools allow children 4 and up (boys aged 4-6 can go to the women's side with mom). Children under 4 must use the in-room bath only.
Family-specific perks: free crib and extra bed · kids aged 6 and under stay free (not counted as a head in the same room) · free game room · daily paper-craft and snack-making workshops · private karaoke rooms by the hour · The Riverbank restaurant by the river has kids' menus and high chairs.
Honest take: opened in 2010, so the design isn't the newest · holiday weekends get crowded in the pool and lobby (book weekdays if possible) · NT$6,900 isn't cheap, but split four ways (2 adults + 2 kids) it's NT$1,725/person — much better than it sounds.
