Surat Thani in 60 Seconds

Southern Thailand's Nature & Island Gateway

Surat Thani is the largest province in upper southern Thailand and the mainland's most important hub for island travel — ferries depart from Donsak and Ban Don piers to Ko Samui, Ko Phangan and Ko Tao. Inland, the star attraction is Cheow Lan Lake, an emerald reservoir ringed by soaring limestone karsts inside Khao Sok National Park — one of the world's oldest rainforests. History lovers have the 1,200-year-old Srivijaya-era chedi at Wat Phra Borommathat Chaiya. Best visited January–April in the dry season.

Wat Phra Borommathat Chaiya
