Swiio Hotel Daan — a minimalist white box in Da'an's foodie quarter

Swiio Hotel Daan is a 3-star design boutique hotel that's arguably "the best-looking address in Da'an". The building is a pure white box punched with small house-shaped windows in a playful pattern, making it a corner landmark. Inside it's all minimalist white and cream, the minibar is free and restocked daily, and the famous food street of Yongkang is just a few minutes' walk away.

Our Full Review

Swiio Hotel Daan (Chinese name 二十輪旅店大安館) opened in 2015 under the design-led Swiio brand. The building is conceived as a pure white box punched with house-roof-shaped windows of varying sizes across the whole facade. At night the room lights glow through these openings and the building lights up like a piece of art — making it one of the most photographed hotel buildings in Da'an.

There are just 36 rooms, all done in minimalist white, cream and pale wood, each thoughtfully laid out. The detail guests mention most is the memory-foam mattress that hits the sweet spot of soft, paired with a "pillow menu" so you can pick your own firmness. Bathrooms are glass-partitioned with rain showers, and some larger rooms have a sculptural white square bathtub that looks straight out of an interiors magazine.

Guests describe it simply: "Everything in the minibar is free — beer, soft drinks, snacks — and it's refilled every single day. The bed was so comfortable they overslept. At this price, that's a steal."

What sets Swiio Daan apart from similarly priced boutiques is the free, daily-restocked minibar — beer, soft drinks, water and snacks, with no hidden charges to worry about. Rooms come with a coffee machine, and quality touches like a wireless charger and a choice of air-freshener scents. The whole experience feels like a hotel a tier above its actual price.

LE BLANC cafe-bar on the ground floor

The location sits in a quiet, safe pocket of Da'an. It's about a 7-minute walk to MRT Daan station (Red + Brown lines), and within walking distance of Yongkang Street, Taipei's legendary food strip — the original Din Tai Fung for xiaolongbao, mango shaved ice and a cluster of tea houses. Dongmen and its night market are a short walk further. The ground floor of the hotel itself houses a European-style cafe-bar called LE BLANC, a natural spot for morning coffee or an evening beer.

An honest note — breakfast is the one area where many guests feel the hotel is merely "average" compared with its strong design and service. The variety and portions are fairly limited, but since Yongkang Street's excellent breakfast spots are so close, many guests simply head out instead. The streets immediately around the hotel are also ordinary city blocks rather than postcard-pretty — the trade-off being quiet nights and great food just around the corner.

In short, Swiio Hotel Daan is best for couples and travellers who love good design, want a beautiful minimalist room, a soft bed and unlimited free perks in a walkable foodie location. If you don't mind a 7-minute walk to the MRT in exchange for a hotel that looks great and feels like "more than you paid for" — this is one of the best-value choices in Da'an.
