Grand Hyatt Taipei — Taipei 101 at Your Window, Right in Xinyi

Grand Hyatt Taipei is a 5-star hotel that delivers on the one promise no competitor in the city can match: a front-row seat to Taipei 101. Open since September 1990, this 853-room landmark combines Grand Club butler service, a renowned 150-dish breakfast buffet, year-round outdoor pool, and eight dining venues — all four minutes from the MRT.

Our Full Review

Grand Hyatt Taipei opened its doors in September 1990 and has since become the benchmark luxury address in Taipei's Xinyi district. Spread across 853 rooms and suites in four tiers — Standard, Deluxe, Grand Club, and Suite — the hotel places you at the geographic and visual heart of the city. From a Deluxe room on the upper floors, the iconic spire of Taipei 101 fills the window like a living postcard.

One guest recalls: "The Taipei 101 view from the room at night was stunning. And the breakfast? They didn't expect it to be this good — Taiwanese dim sum, Japanese miso, and a full Western spread, all perfectly fresh."

The Café's breakfast buffet is consistently the most praised feature across every platform. Over 150 dishes spanning Taiwanese, Japanese, and Western cuisine roll out every morning: live-station omelettes, freshly steamed dumplings, congee with traditional toppings, sashimi, made-to-order eggs Benedict. Guests routinely describe it as the best meal of their trip — and it's easy to see why. Peak hours crowd in by 8:30 AM; arriving early rewards you with the full spread and a quieter room.

Location is the other trump card. The hotel sits squarely in the Xinyi district — Taipei's most polished neighbourhood — with Taipei 101 Mall directly across the street, Shin Kong Mitsukoshi and ATT 4 FUN within a five-minute walk, and MRT Taipei 101/World Trade Center Station just four minutes on foot via Exit 5. For the New Year's Eve fireworks display, rooms with a 101 view are the best seats in the entire city.

Guest room with Taipei 101 view

The Grand Club Lounge — accessible when you book a Club-category room or suite — elevates a stay significantly: a curated evening cocktail hour, light dinner canapes, and a private breakfast service with city views. Business travellers rate it especially highly, citing the high-speed Wi-Fi, quiet working space, and personalised butler check-in. Beyond the Club, the hotel runs eight dining venues: ZIGA ZAGA (Italian-American), Yun Jin (Cantonese), Irodori (Japanese kaiseki), Cha Lounge (artisan teas), Bel Air (international), Cheers Bar, and the Café.

Grand Hyatt Taipei outdoor pool

Guest rooms are dressed in calm grey-taupe palettes with 47-inch flat screens, marble bathrooms stocked with June Jacobs toiletries, bathrobes and slippers. Deluxe rooms and above add deep soaking tubs. Standard rooms at 33 sq m (355 sq ft) feel compact compared with newer luxury openings — if space matters, upgrading to Deluxe (40 sq m) or a Junior Suite makes a meaningful difference. The outdoor pool sits on a garden terrace and is temperature-controlled year-round; combined with the spa and 24-hour fitness centre, the leisure offering is hard to fault.

The honest trade-off is age. Grand Hyatt Taipei opened over 35 years ago, and while public areas are well maintained, some corners of the hotel carry a Classic Luxury feel that will feel dated to guests accustomed to the crisp minimalism of newer five-stars. That said, for travellers who put location, legendary breakfast, and Hyatt's reliable service standards above ultra-contemporary interiors, this remains the most compelling address in Xinyi — and arguably in all of Taipei.

If you're coming to Taipei to experience the energy of Xinyi first-hand, and you want the hotel with the best Taipei 101 view paired with Hyatt's trusted service — Grand Hyatt Taipei delivers that combination better than anyone else. 💡 Check before you book
These 3 points matter to some travellers — make sure they fit your trip (we have added the workaround).
  • 💡If room space matters to you — Standard rooms are just 33 sq m, which is tight for a 5-star rate → book a Deluxe (40 sq m) or higher, or a Grand Suite, for a properly spacious stay
  • 💡If you're travelling in peak season (Chinese New Year, cherry blossom, NYE) — 101 View rooms spike sharply in price → book 2–3 months ahead or choose a non-view room at a more reasonable rate
  • 💡If ultra-modern interiors are a priority — Grand Hyatt Taipei opened in 1990 and carries a classic luxury aesthetic; some areas await renovation → check the most recent room photos before booking
